The rhythm of Jambhavan is provided by Fred Ghatala.

Fred grew up with the sounds of indian percussion and began studying the mridang, a double sided indian drum when he was 10 years old. The mridang combines the treble expressiveness of the tablas with the low end potential of a boomy dholak.

Fred uses ableton live, a teenage engineering OP-1, and a Zoom HN4 field recorder to create, perform, and capture Jambhavan’s music creations.

Fred approaches the spiritual aspect of his life with a spirit of inclusiveness and the direct experience of the power of music to create stillness within. He is at home chanting Alahoo Qawwali with Sufis or Om Namah Shivaya mantras with his yoga brothers and sisters.

Fred creates music using Ableton Live, his OP-1, and a growing collection of analog and physical instruments. From chill yoga vibes to techno, he loves it all and posts  it on his soundcloud site without apology. :
